2 plain pizza bases from the supermarket. I have tried to make them from scratch using gluten-free flour and failed miserably. Had more recent success… If you want to make your own dough have a look at my best pizza dough recipe or my easy pizza dough recipe.
1 small tin/packet of tomato paste (can use pizza sauce but I don’t bother)
1 cup grated cheese (any – even the grown-up cheeses can make for nice flavours on the grown-ups pizza)
Then top with whatever you have around. Some nice and easy ones:
Cook bacon beforehand
Cook egg beforehand
Onion & mushroom
Cheese (under toppings)
Green Pepper (Capsicum)
Top the bases with whatever you have available, for fun (or fussy eaters) let the kids help you choose what to use. Feel free to experiment with sauces and toppings. I sometimes use leftovers on pizzas (can be handy for meat), to this day one of my husband’s and my favourite pizza toppings is curry. Yum.
Spread tomato paste on bases and top with your choice of flavour. Cheese can be added underneath or on top of the toppings. Cook in moderate oven (180C) for around 10 minutes or until the crust is starting to harden.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Serves: The whole family
To harden the base a little, put them in the oven for 5 minutes or so before adding the sauce and toppings to make them a bit harder. Take them out, add your toppings, and pop them back into the oven for a shorter time, around 3 minutes. If the cheese is under the toppings then it will cook faster.
Mums may prefer a little more gourmet to their pizza than the kids, why not try beetroot, onion, feta, tomato, basil and bacon. Yumbo!
